It seems as less and less veterans from the latest World War are alive the more we become interested in their combat methods. It is naturally when we come to lose something that we realize its value. Fortunately for us it isn’t too late to still learn from some of these men as is the case here with trooper Stan W Scott, No. 3 Army Commando, demonstrating the use of the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife.

This presentation was part of the ‘Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics’ exhibition at the National Army Museum in London.

The British television program “Commando” also had an interesting demonstration with veterans Buster Woodiwiss and Dai Davis.

Also a poignant reminder of the reality of knife fighting was given by another commando, George Peel.
